What we do

The Daisy Garland charity was set up in November 2004 to keep Daisy's memory alive and to help other little children like her.

We fund an increasing number of Ketogenic Dietitians who work in National Health Hospitals treating hundreds of children with intractable epilepsy.

We are the only charity funding full-time Ketogenic Dietitians working within NHS hospitals nationwide - each dietitian costs up to £47,000 per annum. If you think you could help us fund our next Daisy Garland Ketogenic Dietitian go to HOW YOU CAN HELP. Be in touch today.

Epilepsy affects 1 in every 100 children in the UK

Abby's Story

14-year-old Abby is on the ketogenic diet under the care of our ketogenic dietitian Janette Buttle, based at The Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Glasgow.

This is what Abby’s mum, Morven, has to say - “Abby started having seizures at 7 weeks and has a diagnosis of Lissencephaly [smooth brain]. She’s been on lots of different anticonvulsants, which failed to control her seizures and she slept a lot. Last summer Abby started the ketogenic diet, which has reduced her seizures and she’s been able to comeoff one of her drugs. We’re delighted to say we now have a stroppy, opinionated, happy (when she’s getting her own way) teenager! School has noticed the difference in Abby and are amazed by the transformation, thanks to the ketogenic diet and our fabulous Daisy Dietitian!”
