We have been lucky enough to be given the opportunity to run the London Marathon this year, raising funds for our favourite charity The Daisy Garland.

So let me tell you a bit about the why, who and how……

"Our 14 year old son Drew, has severe hard to control epilepsy and global development delay (Drew is developmentally aged around 6-12 month old).

Drew is the most wonderful soul, he is the happiest person I know. He looks at the word differently to the majority of us, and finds pleasure in the simplest things. I sometime wish I could take a leaf out of his book, when sometimes the world is busy. Despite the challenges he has, from the numerous seizures his body goes through, He amazes and delights us when he has learnt new skills!

Drew is a truly amazing young man. Our amazing little boy.

Unfortunately Drew's epilepsy cannot be fixed with medication, so in 2012 Drew started the Ketogenic diet - a special diet for children with difficult to control epilepsy.

Because of the diet his seizures reduced considerably giving him the opportunity learn all the things that you and I take for granted on a daily basis Things like walking, sitting, eating, and talking. Unfortunately he doesn’t talk, but this doesn’t mean that he doesn’t have a lot to say! ...

And now the reason why we are running the April 2024 London Marathon...

The Daisy Garland had supported our family for many years, to which we are amazingly grateful for. So to have this opportunity to raise funds for them, is just wonderful.

This fabulous charity has supported our family throughout our entire keto journey offering invaluable advice and genuine support, and providing Drews first night time monitor.

As well as funding numerous Daisy Garland keto dietitians to work in NHS hospitals, they also provide life-saving grants for night-time monitors keeping children like Drew safe at night while they sleep.

The Daisy Garland are a charity close to our hearts and every step we run, will be run for Drew, and Daisy.

So please, please, dig deep in your pockets and purses, and help me raise as much as possible for this truly fantastic charity.
Thank you.
